A Prayer Against Worldly Carefulness "Private Prayers, put forth by Authority during the Reign of Queen Elizabeth I (1860 Parker Society Edition) Elizabeth I
"O most dear and tender Father, our defender and nourisher, endue us with thy grace, that we may cast off the great blindness of our minds, and carefulness of worldly things, and [may put our whole study and] care in keeping thy holy law; and that we may labour and travail for our necessities in this life, like the birds of the air and the lilies of the field, without care. For thou hast promised to be careful for us, and hast commanded that upon thee we should cast all our care, which livest and reignest world without end. Amen."

"Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto treasure hid in a field; the which when a man hath found, he hideth, and for joy thereof goeth and selleth all that he hath, and buyeth that field. Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto a merchant man, seeking goodly pearls: Who, when he had found one pearl of great price, went and sold all that he had, and bought it." Matt 13:44-46 KJV
