Clement of Rome, who quotes directly from half the books of the New Testament in the short epistle that is all that is left of him, in Clement to the Corinthians,” says clearly:
“... carefully attending to His Words, ye were inwardly filled with [literally “ye embraced it in your bowels”] His doctrine ...”
